Total Nutrition is proud to announce that our Insight-Lab division has achieved a significant milestone by analyzing over 5,000 samples in the past year. This achievement reflects our dedication to providing comprehensive nutritional insights and supporting the agricultural and feed industries with precise and reliable laboratory services.
Our extensive analyses have focused on a wide range of raw materials essential to animal nutrition:
- Corn Silage: We conducted numerous tests on corn silage, including 926 proximate analyses, 889 carbohydrate tests, and 858 detergent fiber tests. These analyses ensure that this vital feed component meets quality standards and provides optimal nutrition for livestock.
- Cattle Feed: With 527 proximate analyses, 409 carbohydrate tests, and 358 detergent fiber tests, we thoroughly examined cattle feed samples. These tests are crucial for verifying the nutritional content and quality of feed provided to cattle, contributing to their health and productivity.
- Oilseed Meals: We focused on oilseed meals like canola meal and rapeseed meal, performing 395 and 187 proximate analyses respectively. Additionally, we conducted 272 glucosinolate tests on canola meal and 124 on rapeseed meal to monitor anti-nutritional factors that could affect animal health.
- Soybean Meal: As a critical protein source in animal feeds, soybean meal underwent 102 proximate analyses, 61 protein quality tests, and 285 amino acid profiling tests. These analyses help optimize feed formulations by ensuring the protein quality and amino acid balance meet the nutritional requirements of livestock.
- Other Raw Materials: We analyzed a variety of other materials, including wheat bran (119 proximate analyses), rice bran (24), sunflower meal (21), beet pulp, cottonseed cake, fish meal, and palm kernel expeller. Examining these diverse materials supports innovative feed formulations and promotes sustainable feeding practices.
Safety in animal nutrition is paramount. Our lab conducted 356 tests for aflatoxins (B&G) on materials such as cattle feed and corn grain, and 14 tests for aflatoxins (M) in milk samples. Detecting and managing these mycotoxins is essential to protect animal health and prevent contamination of the food chain.
Mineral and vitamin content is critical for animal health. We performed numerous analyses to ensure feed ingredients meet the required standards:
- Macro and Micro Minerals: Conducted 149 macro mineral tests and 145 micro mineral tests on various premixes and feed additives.
- Fat-Soluble Vitamins: Analyzed 150 samples for vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are crucial for various metabolic functions.
Our commitment to advancing nutritional science is further demonstrated through specialized tests:
- Amino Acid Profiling (NIR): Completed 1,195 analyses using Near-Infrared Reflectance technology. This advanced method allows for rapid and accurate assessment of protein quality in feed ingredients.
- Protein Quality Tests: Performed 256 tests to evaluate the digestibility and availability of proteins in feed ingredients.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our clients and partners for their trust and collaboration, which have been instrumental in reaching this milestone. As we look forward to the coming year, Total Nutrition remains dedicated to providing exceptional laboratory services that contribute to the success of our clients and the well-being of animals.
